Texas AG Talks Tough to Target, Tackles Transgender Toilet Troubles

Whatever it takes. That’s what Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is willing to do to protect women and children in his state.

The conservative Republican has been an outspoken defender of America’s most cherished freedoms, and has joined with 14 other Attorneys General to stand up for religious liberty. Last year, Paxton responded to videos showing that Planned Parenthood has trafficked in aborted baby parts, saying that Planned Parenthood should not receive a penny from taxpayers to finance their grotesque, immoral practices.

And now, he has come to the rescue of shoppers who are confused over whether to leave the toilet seat up or down in Target’s transgender restrooms.

Paxton has asked the Target Corporation to explain its bathroom safety policy. While the company is free to adopt its inclusivity policy, Paxton noted that

“allowing men in women’s restrooms could lead to criminal and otherwise unwanted activity.”

Paxton implied that shoppers in the Lone Star State may vote with their feet and shop elsewhere–considering that voters in Houston recently repealed by a wide margin an ordinance that advanced many of the same goals as Target’s current policy. In light of the risk posed to citizens of his state, Paxton has asked the retailer to disclose its plans to protect women and children in their bathrooms and fitting rooms. “If we save one child from illegal or inappropriate activity,” he said to Fox News’ Todd Starnes, “it’s worth it.”

As of Saturday afternoon, nearly 1.2 million Americans have signed the American Family Association’s #BoycottTarget pledge, urging the retail chain to rescind its transgender bathroom policy. Walker Wildmon, spokesperson for the AFA, said,

We applaud the state of Texas for standing strong against Target’s harmful bathroom policy that gives males who identify as females access to women’s restrooms and fitting rooms.

…What the Texas Attorney General is asking in this letter is exactly what we’ve been asking Target to answer. What about women and children? What about men who pretend to be women and go into these bathrooms just so they can prey on women?

It’s fabulous that someone in leadership in our country is stepping up to the plate and asking the tough questions that need to be asked.
